260 thousand security personnel mobilized for local election on Friday

Kathmandu, May 12. A total of two hundred sixty thousand security personnel have been deployed for the local level elections. Amongst them, a hundred thousand are Myadi (temporary) police personnel.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, security is provided in three cordons. In the first cordon are the Nepal Police and Myadi police personnel, in the second cordon are the APF personnel and the Nepali Army personnel are mobilized in the third (outer) cordon

Further, Nepal Police spokesperson, Senior Superintendent Bishnu Kumar KC said that the election environment this time is peaceful.Nepali Army spokesperson Narayan Silwal said that the Army has put forward plans in which the security personnel will reach the election site within 30 minutes.

For the election, more than 65 thousand Nepal Police personnel, over 32 thousand Armed Police Force (APF) personnel and 71 thousand Nepali Army personnel are mobilized.

Courts to remain closed for four days

Courts across the country will remain closed for four days in view of the local election on May 13. 

The Apex court’s joint spokesperson Debendra Dhakal said all courts across the country will remain closed for four days starting Friday. The government has announced public holiday therefore all courts including the Supreme Court will remain closed until May 16.

The apex court will resume their work on Monday.
