Kathmandu, July 1. Thai Smile Airways is preparing to launch everyday commercial flights from Nepal’s Tribhuvan International Airport(TIA) in Kathmandu.
Through an official statement on Wednesday, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal(CAAN) announced that the Thailand-based airliner Thai Smile Airways will operate direct flights between Kathmandu and Bangkok from Friday.
“Thai Smile is connecting for the first time with Nepali airport. We have allowed them to operate flights seven days a week” CAAN spokesperson Jagannath Niraula told reporters.
Niraula also said that the Sri Lankan national flag carrier will resume Kathmandu-Colombo direct flight service from July 6. Earlier in 2020, the airliner closed its service due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “Srilankan airlines is resuming its service after over two years,” Niraula said.
At present, 24 foreign airliners have been operating flights from TIA.
