NPR 114 billion foreign loan received in eight months: Nepali Finance Ministry

Kathmandu, March 26. Nepal’s Finance Ministry reported on Saturday that the country has received foreign aid commitments amounting to Rs 138.5 billion, in eight months of current fiscal year 2022/23.

“The aid includes grants equivalent to Rs 24.56 billion and foreign loans of Rs 114 billion from various bilateral and multilateral development partners,” the finance ministry said.

According to the ministry, the government had set a target of receiving foreign loans worth Rs 242.26 billion and foreign grants of Rs 44.46 billion in the first eight months of the fiscal year through its annual budget.

However, as of now, the commitment for foreign loans and grants has only reached 47 percent and 44.28 percent of their respective targets.
