Kathmandu, Nov 4: Australia clinched a narrow 2-wicket victory over Pakistan in the first ODI, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Chasing a target of 204 runs, Australia reached 205/8 in 33.3 overs in Melbourne.
Josh Inglis led with 49 runs, supported by Steven Smith’s 44 and captain Pat Cummins’ crucial 32. Pakistan’s Haris Rauf claimed 3 wickets, while Shaheen Shah Afridi took 2.
Earlier, Pakistan was bowled out for 203 runs in 46.4 overs. Mohammad Rizwan top-scored with 44, Naseem Shah contributed 40, and Babar Azam added 37. Mitchell Starc led Australia’s bowling with 3 wickets, while Cummins and Adam Zampa picked up 2 each.
The second ODI is scheduled for Friday.
