Janakpur Volts Secure Second Consecutive Win in NPL
Kathmandu, Dec 2: Captain Anil Kumar Sah’s unbeaten half-century led Janakpur Volts to an eight-wicket victory over Karnali Yaks in the Siddhartha Bank Nepal Premier League (NPL). This marks Janakpur’s second consecutive win, placing them at the top of the points table.
Batting first at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground, Karnali Yaks posted 141/7 in 20 overs. Janakpur Volts comfortably chased the target in just 15.1 overs, losing two wickets.
Captain Anil Kumar Sah remained not out at 62 runs off 42 balls, hitting six fours and three sixes. Contributions also came from Ashif Sheikh (36 off 29 balls) and Sri Lankan player Lahiru Milantha (24 off 13 balls). Jimmy Neesham finished with an unbeaten 16 runs off eight balls.
For Karnali, Gulshan Kumar Jha scored 36 off 27 balls, Arjun Gharti added 33 off 22 balls, and captain Sompal Kami contributed 29 runs off 13 balls. Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan scored 14 runs in his debut NPL appearance.
In bowling, Mohammad Mohsin Khan took two wickets for Janakpur Volts, with support from Jimmy Neesham, Harsh Thaker, Lalit Rajbanshi, and Kihor Mahato, who each claimed one wicket.
Janakpur Volts had previously defeated Biratnagar Kings by eight wickets in their first match and now lead the league standings.
