F-16 Jets Respond to Illegal Flights Over Trump’s Mar-a-Lago
Kathmandu, March 1: Three civilian planes were reported to have flown illegally over US President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. In response, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) deployed F-16 fighter jets, which fired flares and escorted the three aircraft out of the area.
Reports indicate that the airspace violations occurred at 11:05 a.m., 12:10 p.m., and 12:50 p.m. It remains unclear why these planes entered Palm Beach airspace, and similar incidents have been reported with increasing frequency. The Palm Beach Post noted that during Trump’s recent visit to Mar-a-Lago, there were three violations over the city, including two on February 15 and one on Presidents’ Day, February 17.
There have also been reports of F-16 jets being used in response to airspace violations over the inland community of Wellington, and NORAD mentioned that another civilian plane flew over Palm Beach on a separate occasion in February. According to the Irish Star, Trump arrived at his resort after an F-16 shot one of the planes out of the air.
