US Strikes Iranian Nuclear Sites, Iran Calls Attack a UN Violation

Kathmandu. June 22: Tensions in the Middle East have surged after US President Donald Trump announced that the United States had launched successful airstrikes on three key Iranian nuclear sites – Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan. The strikes, confirmed by Trump via his Truth Social account on Sunday, are being called a serious escalation.
“All bombs have been dropped on Fordo, and all planes have returned safely to the United States,” Trump wrote. He praised the American military, adding, “There is no other army in the world that can do this. Now is the time for peace.”
Iran Condemns the Attack
In response, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned the strikes, calling them a violation of the United Nations Charter and international law. He said the attacks targeted Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities and warned that the incident would have long-term consequences.
“Iran reserves all rights to defend its sovereignty, interests, and people under international law,” Araghchi wrote on social media.
Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization (AEOI) described the attack as barbaric and criticized the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for what it called “indifference.”
Iranian officials confirmed that the sites were hit, though state media claimed that sensitive nuclear materials had already been removed from the facilities, reducing the potential impact of the strikes.
US and Israel: Coordinated Action
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the US military action, stating, “President Trump and the United States acted with great power. Peace through strength.”
A US official told Reuters that the attacks were fully coordinated with Israel. The US used B-2 stealth bombers in the operation, which had reportedly been stationed in Guam in preparation for potential action.
The Situation on the Ground
Iranian local officials reported explosions near the Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear sites. Despite US claims of success, Iranian media downplayed the damage, suggesting that key materials and assets had been secured or relocated in advance.
What Comes Next
The incident has further escalated the already intense conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States. Iran has vowed to explore all possible responses and warned of serious consequences.
Meanwhile, the international community is watching closely, as this military escalation could have far-reaching impacts on regional and global security.
