Nepal Storms Into Semifinals With Big Win Over Bhutan in U-16 East Zone Cup

Kathmandu, July 1: Nepal U-16 cricket team has secured a spot in the semifinals of the ACC Men’s U-16 East Zone Cup after a massive 298-run victory over Bhutan in the final group stage match.
Batting first after winning the toss, Nepal set a huge target of 359 runs. Raunak Srivastava led the charge with a brilliant 168 runs. Jai Thapa remained not out on 61, while Srivans Bajgai added 54 and Sugam Budhathoki scored 35 runs. Sachin Bhatta remained unbeaten on eight. For Bhutan, Sanjay Dorji took three wickets and Tenzing Jamtsole took one.
In reply, Bhutan was bowled out for just 60 runs in 32.4 overs. Shejang Dawa scored the highest with 14 runs, and Ugyan Keljang Chopel added 10. No other player managed to reach double figures.
Captain Bipin Sharma took four wickets for Nepal, while Sachin Bhattale claimed two and Suyog Bhattarai got one.
Nepal joins Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Singapore in the semifinals. Both semifinal matches will be played on Thursday, with the third-place playoff and final scheduled for Saturday.
