Nepal A Clinches T20 Series Against Assam With Final Match Victory

Kathmandu, Sept 1: Nepal A sealed a historic five-match Twenty20 series win against Assam, India, after securing a convincing 44-run victory in the fifth and deciding match held in Guwahati on Monday. With this result, Nepal A clinched the series 3–2.
In the final clash, Nepal A posted an impressive 208 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Sandeep Jora was the standout performer with a quickfire 64 runs off just 39 balls, smashing five sixes and two fours. Supporting contributions came from Shubh Kansakar with 41 runs, Ishan Pandey with 32 runs, and Adil Ansari, who played a blistering cameo of 25 runs from just 11 deliveries, including three sixes.
In reply, Assam fell short of the target, managing only 164 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. Bhargava Lahkar top-scored for Assam with 29 runs, but the team could not withstand the disciplined bowling attack of Nepal A. Pawan Sarraf, Sher Malla, and Akash Chand each picked up two wickets, while Basir Ahmed and Adil Ansari added one wicket apiece to seal the win.
The series witnessed exciting cricket throughout. Nepal A had earlier beaten Assam by 15 runs via the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern (DLS) method in the opening match and then secured a massive 96-run win in the second. They extended their dominance with a narrow nine-run win in the third match. Assam, however, kept the series alive by winning the fourth match by 18 runs, setting the stage for Monday’s decisive encounter.
The victory marks a strong statement from Nepal’s second-string side, showing the depth and potential of the nation’s cricketing talent against a competitive Indian state team.
