Putin Arrives in Delhi for Two-Day India Visit

Kathmandu, Dec 4: Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Delhi for a two-day official visit to India.

His aircraft landed at Delhi’s Palam airport, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed him with a handshake and traditional bow before both leaders departed together.

This is Putin’s first visit to India since the outbreak of the Ukraine conflict. He will also attend the G20 summit hosted in India.

India and Russia share a long-standing strategic relationship marked by regular annual summits. So far, the two nations have held 22 such high-level meetings.

The leaders spoke five times in 2022 and twice in 2023, while Prime Minister Modi also traveled to Moscow in July.

India and Russia cooperate in defense, energy, and various commercial sectors. Official data shows bilateral trade reached a record US$68.7 billion in the fiscal year 2024-25.
