Nepal Crush United States by 122 Runs in ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League-2
Kathmandu, May 22: Nepal registered a historic 122-run victory over the United States in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League-2 at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
Chasing a massive target of 318 runs, the visiting side was bowled out for 195 runs in 41.2 overs as Nepal’s bowlers delivered a dominant performance.
Sandeep Lamichhane led the bowling attack with three wickets, while Lalit Rajbanshi, Dipendra Singh Airee and Gulshan Jha claimed two wickets each. Sompal Kami added one wicket to complete the victory.
For the United States, Sanjay Krishnamurthi scored a fighting half-century with 56 runs. Noshthush Kenjige made 29 runs, Shayan Jahangir scored 27, Shehan Jayasuriya added 26 and captain Shayan Jahangir contributed 22 runs.
Earlier, Nepal posted a strong total of 317 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 50 overs after being invited to bat first. Ishan Pandey top-scored with an impressive 84 runs off 83 balls, including eight fours and a six.
Dipendra Singh Airee contributed 59 runs, while captain Rohit Paudel scored 46, Aasif Sheikh 43 and Kushal Bhurtel 29.
For the United States, Shubham Ranjane took three wickets, while Milind Kumar and Rusil Ugarkar claimed one wicket each.
With the victory, Nepal strengthened its position in the points table, reaching 24 points from 28 matches with 11 wins, 15 losses and two no-results.
