2020 US Presidential Elections: Trump warns Biden not to declare victory, as Biden cuts into Trump’s lead in key battleground states
Trump will find it impossible to win the race unless he secures both Pennsylvania and Georgia.
Kathmandu. President Donald Trump has warned his opponent Joe Biden not to declare victory in the 2020 US Presidential Election. However, he himself had previously made an announcement anticipating his own win. As Biden has cut into Trump’s lead in the Keystone state, and has gained ground in Georgia and Nevada, Trump’s temper has been flaring.
The Democratic candidate is close to victory in the state of Pennsylvania (20 Electoral votes), a battleground state considered to be decisive in the race with 99% of the ballots already counted. He currently stands strong with 253 Electoral votes and if Biden wins the state he will win the race, even if he loses Arizona (11), Nevada (6), North Carolina (15), and Georgia (16). Both candidates need to secure 270 Electoral votes to win the elections, and Trump will find it impossible to win the race unless he emerges victorious in both Pennsylvania and Georgia.
Trump has stated in a Tweet that, “Joe Biden should not wrongfully claim the office of the President. I could make that claim also. Legal proceedings are just now beginning!”
As the race is tightening, Trump has also questioned the democratic process of the votes and the mail-in-ballots that are heavily leaning towards the democratic candidate. “I had such a big lead in all of these states late into election night, only to see the leads miraculously disappear as the days went by. Perhaps these leads will return as our legal proceedings move forward!,” the President mentioned in a separate Tweet,
Biden speaking in Wilmington, Delaware has stated, “My fellow Americans, we don’t have a final declaration of victory yet, but the numbers tell us it’s clear. Tell us a clear and convincing story. We are going to win this race.”
“Twenty four hours ago we were behind in Pennsylvania, and we are going to win Pennsylvania. And now we are ahead, but we are winning in Arizona, we’re winning in Nevada, and in fact our lead just doubled in Nevada. We’re on track for over 300 electoral votes, electoral college votes. And look at the national numbers. We’re going to win this race with a clear majority, with the nation behind us,” he added.
