Prachanda’s political document receives volleys of protest from Oli group
Kathmandu. Members of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), who are close to the party Chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, have been angered by the political proposal another Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has presented at the NCP Secretariat meeting on Friday making grave allegations on PM Oli. They have retaliated vehemently against the content and language of the proposal.
Chief Minister of Lumbini and member of the permanent committee Shankar Pokharel had been the first to start the protest on Saturday morning. He was then followed by former Information Minister Gokul Baskota and press advisor to the prime minster Surya Thapa. Continuous protests against Prachanda’s proposal are being posted in the social media currently.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokhrel showed his resentment against the document on Saturday evening. All protesting leaders have demanded the withdrawal of the document by Prachanda.
Deputy PM Pokhrel has written: “Prachanda has put serious allegations against party’s first Chair KP Sharma Oli. The allegations he has presented as proposals are against the unanimous decision for party unity made by the the permanent committee on September 11, 2020. Instead of following the understanding prepared for party unification and working together, the proposal has used harsh languages challenging the identity of the other chair and promoting divisionism. The proposals are completely unbalanced and presented with ill intent. Should the malicious “proposals” be taken back and the unification of the parties be concluded or should we head towards a tragedy? Not only comrade Prachanda but all members of NCP should decide now.”
Press advisor Thapa had termed Prachanda’s proposal as apolitical. Both Thapa and Chief Minister Pokharel had demanded the proposal to be taken back. PM’s press advisor Thapa went as far as to say that meeting or dialogue at any level prior to the withdrawal of the proposal would be useless.
PM KP Sharma Oli had called the secretariat meeting on Friday after 40 days, denying Chair Prachanda’s continuous proposals to call the meeting. With a responsible member of the PM’s secretariat claiming that meetings without the cancellation of the proposal would be futile, clouds of uncertainty seem to be looming again over the NCP Secretariat meeting scheduled for November 18 .
