Govt to take action against hospitals denying free treatment of COVID-19
Kathmandu. The government has made it clear that hospitals not providing free treatment to coronavirus infected patients would be dealt with strictly.
Joint Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari, informed that action would be taken against the hospitals going against the government orders and not providing treatment free of cost to the coronavirus infected people.
The government has enlisted the hospitals and sent circular to them directing them to provide free of cost treatment to the COVID-19 infected people. Adhikari said, the Ministry has amended the Ordinance regarding the provision of grant to hospitals carrying out PCR test and treatment of coronavirus infected people-2077 for that purpose.
Adhikari underscored that the Ministry would provide compensation to the hospitals for the tests and treatment carried, hence, they should not shy away from treating the COVID-19 patients. The treatment cost will be deducted from the insured amount of those who have insured themselves against COVID-19 and others willing to share the government’s burden can bear the cost themselves, he added.
