Muktinath Development Bank bags prestigious European Microfinance Award-2020
Kathmandu. The European Microfinance Award 2020 has been awarded to Muktinath Development Bank for its instrumental role in creating effective and inclusive savings.
The award function was organized in Luxembourg with the virtual participation of 70 organizations from 37 different countries . The award was announced after the evaluation and assessments by independent experts. The bank’s role in bringing the low income population excluded in the mainstream economy to micro-banking programs garnered a lot of appreciation during the program.
“Out of 70 organisations from 37 countries who applied for the award, Muktinath Bikas Bank won the Award,” Bank’s Chair Bharat Dhakal told National News Agency (RSS).
Along with Muktinath Development Bank from Nepal, a microfinance company each from Benin and Ethiopia had been chosen as the top three contenders for the award, which has a cash prize of 100 thousand Euros.
The Bank has 138 branches and it provides small and micro-banking services from 118 branches in 42 districts. With a total investment of above Rs 17 billion, the bank is serving 180,000 customers
