Kathmandu. Chandra Prakash Dhakal, chair of the IME Group, has been elected the senior vice president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI). Dhakal has defeated his rival contender Kishor Pradhan.

Dhakal secured 633 votes against Pradhan’s 467 votes. In the associate category, Dhakal received 522 votes against Pradhan’s 375 and 59 in the commodity category against Pradhan’s 39. However, in the district-municipality category Pradhan received more votes than Dhakal, 53 against 52. These categories contribute 30, 20, and 50 per cent votes respectively as per the FNCCI charter.

The FNCCI charter has a provision according to which the incumbent senior vice president becomes the next president of FNCCI. Chnadra Dhakal will succeed Shekhar Golchha who has become the  FNCCI president now.

According to the results of the FNCCI election,  out of the three vice presidents, Anjan Shrestha has been chosen from the commodity category and Dinesh Shrestha from the district-municipal category. Both are from Kishor Pradhan panel. Ram Chandra Sanghai belonging to Dhakal panel has won from the associates category.

Although Dhakal and Pradhan had formed two panels for the election, there has not been a clear win for a panel; the results have been mixed. From associates category, Abinash Bohra, Anand Kumar Agrawal, Krishna Lal Maharjan, Gopal Khanal, Jyotsna Shrestha, Desh Bandhu Basnet, Prabal Jung Pande, Bharat Raj Acahrya, Ranjit Raj Acharya, Rajesh Kumar Agrawal, Bijay Singh Vaidya, Shakti Kumar Begani, Shahil Agrawal, Shailendra Guragain, Sushil Thapa, Sanjay Giri and Hemanta Golchha have been elected.

Similarly, Rajan Shrestha, Tara Nath Ghimire, Shobha Kant Poudel, Kamal Kumar Shrestha, Gajendra Kumar Bhagat, Chakra Bahadur Adhikari, Arun Sumargi, Dev Kumar Shrestha, Rameshwar Manandhar, Kamal Bahadur Khadka, Shur Krishna Vaidya, Nabir Kumar Shrestha, DB Basnet, Gopal Kedia, Mahendra Kumar Shrestha, Umesh Dalmiya, Kishor Kumar Acharya and Amrit Bhattachan have been elected as district-municipality executive members.

From the commodity category, Naresh Lal Shrestha, Sumit Kumar Kedia, Akash Adhikari, Prakash Singh Karki, Bhakta Bahadur Hamal, Subodh Kumar Gupta, Hem Raj Dhakal, Araniko Rajbhandari, Govinda Dhungel, Manish Lal Pradhan, Min Man Shrestha, Bishnu Prasad Gaire, Sandip Kumar Agrawal and Sukunta Lal Hirachan have been chosen for the executive committee.
