Kathmandu. The main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to launch protest programs against the government for its maltreatment of senior NC leader Ram Chandra Poudel in the Tanahun incident. Senior leader Poudel had been taken in police custody while he was there to inaugurate a bridge.
Nepali Congress had organized a meeting of the NC office bearers at party President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence at Budhanilkantha on friday. Joint general secretary of the party Prakash Sharan Mahat informed that NC would launch protest programs in all 77 districts on December 14. NC has also urged the government to call the federal parliament session at the soonest.
“We protest against the misdeeds of the government all over the country. It’s high time the wrongdoings of the government be raised in the Parliament.” Dr Mahat said. The parliamentary session is necessary to discuss contemporary issues and COVID-19 impacts too, he added.
