Experts claim new strain of coronavirus could have already entered Karnataka, India
Kathmandu, December 25. Experts have said that the new strain of coronavirus has already entered India through airline passengers. Karnataka has had steady numbers of passengers arriving from UK since September. The state has already identified that 3,017 passengers have landed in Bengaluru International Airport (BIAL) since December 1.
According to an article in the Deccan Herald, Dr T Jacob John, former principal of Christian Medical College, Vellore has said,”It is not a perfect fit. But it is a better fit than the earlier variants. That is the reason why it seems to be spreading faster. The only sure way to know is when molecular studies are done in India.”
Doctors and experts have said that the next two weeks are crucial to know about the status of virus in Karnataka.
