Ministry of Communication holds discussions with media on upcoming elections
Kathmandu. Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on Sunday held discussions with its line agencies regarding the necessary preparations for making the upcoming elections to House of Representatives free, fair, credible and economical.
On the occasion, office-bearers of Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), Gorkhapatra Corporation, Nepal Television, Radio Nepal, Nepal Telecom Authority and Nepal Telecom made their suggestions on the expectations made by the ministry to facilitate the institutional capacity building in service delivery during the time of elections.
The Election Commission has already started preparations for the elections as per the government’s decision to hold the HoR elections in two phases on April 30 and May 10.
The Ministry started consultation with its line agencies to create election environment and ensure effective preparation for elections.
On the occasion, Secretary at the Ministry Hari Prasad Basyal sought suggestions for ensuring the dissemination of balanced and objective information through the media in the HoR elections.
Office-bearers of the line agencies of the Ministry also shared about their duties, responsibilities and possible contributions to the elections.
RSS, Nepal Television, Radio and Gorkhapatra Corporation expressed the determination to disseminate special bulletin, run program, discussions, conduct interactions, interview and other reports on elections with priority.
On the occasion, General Manager of RSS, Opendra Sharma, said that RSS would prepare special bulletin on elections like in the past while promising to disseminate objective and balanced news, photos and videos.
