Dr. Govinda KC at Maitighar against HoR dissolution
Kathmandu. Dr. Govinda KC participated in today’s street demonstration organized at Maitighar by the leaders of the civil society.
After the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, various rallies, protests and demonstrations are being conducted by the civil society and opposition parties.
Due to internal disputes caused by the dissolution of Parliament, a section of Nepal Communist Party, (Prachanda-Madhav) group, broke ties with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Addressing a public meeting in Dhangadhi on Friday, Prime Minister Oli claimed that the dissolution of the parliament was constitutional and would not be re-established under any conditions. “The dissolved House of Representatives could return only after the election,” said Oli.
Issuing a press release on Friday, Four former chief justices, Min Bahadur Rayamajhi, Anup Raj Sharma, Kalyan Shrestha and Sushila Karki had stated PM Oli’s move to be unconstitutional. They said, “nobody can create such rights themselves.”
A written petition has been filed in the Supreme Court alleging that the dissolution of the House of Representatives is unconstitutional.
