India provides 1.54 billion rupees financial aid to Nepal

Kathmandu. India has provided 1.54 billion rupees for reconstruction and rehabilitation works after the 2015 earthquake. Namgyal Khampa, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy handed over the cheque amounting to the sum to Secretary at Ministry of Finance Shishir Kumar Dhungana.

It has been informed that India has provided 72 million dollars of the amount it had committed as help for rebuilding Nepal after the devastating earthquake of 2015. The Indian assistance is being used to construct 50 thousand houses in Gorakha and Nuwakot. The work has reached 92 percent.

Out of the 150 million dollars that India is providing as grant, Nepal is using 50 million dollars to build 70 schools and a library. India has already provided 42 million dollars of the mentioned grant.

India had promised to help Nepal as a part of its bilateral development assistance program. The aid is being used to rebuild physical infrastructure that have been demolished by the earthquake.
