Head of the Indian intelligence agency RAW in Kathmandu
Kathmandu. Officials of the Indian Intelligence Agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) have arrived in Kathmandu amidst diplomatic silence between Nepal and India. According to security sources, Samant Kumar Goel, the director of RAW, landed in Kathmandu on Wednesday afternoon. A team of nine intelligence officials led by Director Goel arrived with him.
It is unknown as of now what the purpose of their visit to Kathmandu is, since nothing of importance has been revealed. However, the active presence of high-ranking intelligence officials in Kathmandu is anticipated to lead to some developments in the relations between Nepal and India.
Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane is also coming to Nepal in the first week of November, which is perhaps why the RAW Director has arrived beforehand. Due to the border dispute, the relationship between Nepal and India has suffered some setbacks. Their visits most likely are to mitigate the shaky frontier-related issues.
