Rural municipality in Jumla adopts digital tax system

Jumla. The Hima Rural Municipality in Jumla has implemented digital integrated tax system, focusing on the collection of property tax.

The digital tax system will prevent tax leakage and help in maintaining financial transparency, Raj Bahadur Shahi, chair of the rural municipality said. He opined that it would be cost efficient too.

Sharing the information with the National News Agency (RSS), information technology officer Bhim Bahadur Rawat said, “The rural municipality has designated four areas for property tax collection including business, residential, agriculture and forest sectors.”

The new system has been implemented in all the seven wards of the rural municipality. It has made things easy for the people as they can now pay tax from their respective ward offices and no longer have to travel to the rural municipality office for the task.
