Kathmandu. The meeting of the Standing Committee (SC) of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) is being held today (Sunday) at party office Dhumbarahi. It is, however, not certain as to whether Prime Minister and party Chair KP Sharma Oli would participate or not.

PM Oli had not attended the SC meeting held earlier on Dec 6. He had send a letter through Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokhrel that he would not attend the meetings until and unless another Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ withdrew his political proposal, which PM Oli states as being a libelous document aimed at him.

The Prachanda-Nepal faction has planned to continue the SC meeting and carry discussions albeit in the absence of PM Oli. In the meeting today, SC members will present their views on the two proposals presented by Chair duo Oli and  Dahal. The agenda of the meeting has not been ascertained for today’s meeting, leaders say.

It is noteworthy that the NCP statute  mentions that the general secretary should fix the agenda and call the meeting as per the consent of both chairs.
