Govt decisions: transfer of 14 generals, 32 colonels; Rs 1 million to a family of one killed in a clash

Kathmandu, December 16 : A large number of Nepali Army officers have been transferred as per the recent decision of the Cabinet.  A meeting of the Council of Ministers held in Baluwatar on December 12 at 11 am has decided to transfer 14 brigadier generals and 32 colonels.

The cabinet meeting also decided to promote Colonels Man Bahadur Mahara and Bharat Chandra Gurung to the position of brigadier generals. Similarly, the Cabinet meeting has decided upon the retirement of Dr. Pankaj Chand,  providing him a disability pension.

Rs 1 million to the family of Mahendra Mahara

The meeting has decided to provide Rs.1 million financial assistance to the family of Mahendra Mahara of Sarlahi on the proposal of Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal. Mahendra had died in a fight two months ago.

His death sparked further controversy in the small village of Bauharwa in Sarlahi. The government decided to provide Rs.1 million financial assistance after his family members and relatives insisted that his body be kept in Birgunj after his death.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers has also decided to accept a concessional loan of US dollar million from the Asian Development Bank for capacity building of the various airports in Nepal. The meeting also approved to promote the Mahakali Irrigation Project as a project of national pride.
