Nepali Congress claims the post of Chief Minister

Kathmandu, January 22: Congress has claimed for the post of Chief Minister of Bagmati Province. A meeting was held at the residence of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba with senior Leader Ram Chandra Poudel which included leaders, did not take any concrete decision, they discussed the issue of moving forward in line with the group that will nominate the Chief Minister.

A no-confidence motion filed against Bagmati Chief Minister Dormani Poudel is being discussed in today’s meeting of the state assembly. The Prachanda-Madhav Nepal faction had filed a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Poudel.

The group has nominated Ashtalakshmi Shakya as the chief minister. But without the support of the Congress, no group can get a chief minister. In such a situation, the Nepali Congress has adopted a policy of helping itself to become the Chief Minister.

Indra Bania is the leader of the parliamentary party in Bagmati province. According to a source to Deuba, the Nepali Congress is preparing to nominate Baniya as the Chief Minister.
