Kathmandu. January 27. After collaborating with various news media outlets, Facebook on Tuesday launched its in-app News tab in the United Kingdom.

The in-app news tab will showcase stories from hundreds of leading news outlets around the globe and help put “original journalism in front of new audiences.” It was initially introduced for the USA users in November.

The collaboration is likely to help the journalism industry to collect more revenue, in contrast to Google Search, which has been criticized for earning without sharing.

Earlier this month, Australia issued the world’s first law that would make the search engines share a part of the profit to the journalism industry. Denying to share its revenue, Google temporarily removed the Australian news websites from its databases.

So far, media giants like The Economist, The Guardian and The Independent, STV, and hundreds of local news sites have signed the agreement with Facebook.

Facebook is in the process of introducing its news tab in France and Germany.
