Kathmandu, April 9. Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth II’s husband has died, as announced by the Buckingham Palace. The Duke of Edinburgh was 99.

“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh,” the palace said. “His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.”

He was married to the queen for seventy years and had four children Charles, Anne, Andrew and Edward.

He was known to be a moderniser for the British monarchy, but was also criticized for his unplanned comments and remarks.

He had been taken to the hospital for treatment of a blocked artery in the year 2011. He had other health issues in the year 2012 and 2013.

Details of the Duke’s funeral are yet to be revealed.
