Kathmandu, June 12: A statement given by Bagmati Province Assembly member Narottam Baidya against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has landed him in a controversy.

Issuing a press statement today, party spokesperson Pradeep Kumar Gyawali said Nepali Congress (NC) member Narottam Baidya publicly said that he would abet others for assassinating the Prime Minister and was himself ready to do that if necessary.  He added that the statement from Baidya was highly offensive and condemnable.

In the Friday’s session of the Province Assembly, Baidya said that he was ready to become ‘Nathuram Godse’ the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi, against the Prime Minister. The party reached to a conclusion that Baidya’s statement attracted the criminal law, drawing the serious attention of the related party towards that end.

Baidya has later apologized and officially withdrawn his statement at 11 am today.
