Contractors demand one year extension in project deadlines
Kathmandu, June 14. The Federation of Contractors’ Association of Nepal (FCAN) has asked for a one-year extension of the deadlines for projects that were due on April 29. The demand was accompanied by a warning that extending the project time by six months would be unscientific.
On Sunday, an FCAN team met with the Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Umashanker Argariya and provided their institutional perspective on the budget for the fiscal year 2021/22.
Believing that repaying a hundred percent deposit would assist to make the market economy more dynamic, FCAN Chairperson Rabi Singh said that the government will incur no loss by repaying 100% of the deposited sum on the condition of bank guarantees. The following fiscal year’s budget has a provision for just repaying half of the money, which he believes should be taken into account.
The Federation also urged the government to introduce a vaccination campaign for construction workers who are working during the pandemic.
