Kathmandu, August 20. To safeguard Afghan nationals from Taliban attacks, social media networks such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn have temporarily disabled the feature to view the friend lists of accounts in Afghanistan.

The move was taken shortly after Human Rights Organizations warned that the Taliban might trace Afghans’ digital history or social contacts via internet platforms.

Earlier this week, Amnesty International reported that academics, journalists, and human rights campaigners in Afghanistan were at significant danger of Taliban retaliation.

A secret document of the UN’s threat assessment consultants indicated that the Talibans are going door to door looking for persons who work for external security forces.

The Taliban has previously refuted similar claims and has released statements stating that Taliban members are not permitted to enter private residences.
