Sydney and surrounding areas on flood alert as rain lashes out

Kathmandu, March 3. Around 5,00,000 people residing in Sydney and surrounding areas have been asked to evacuate or prepare to flee floodwaters as rain lashed the eastern coast of Australia.
The Bureau of Meteorology in Australia warned of life-threatening flash flooding and severe winds with gusts above 90 kilometers per hour (56 miles per hour).Several rivers in and around Sydney were anticipated to flood severely. Several suburbs were put on high alert.
Around 200,000 residents were given evacuation orders, while another 300,000 were given evacuation advisories, according to the State Emergency Service.
In Queensland and New South Wales, 14 people have died as a result of the flooding.
According to Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Laura Boekel, thunderstorms are expected to extend 450 kilometers (280 miles) north from Brisbane to Bundaberg over the next day or two.
