Women’s soccer team leaves for India to play SAFF U-18 championship

Kathmandu, March 13: Women’s national football team has left for India to compete in the SAFF U-18 Women’s Championship, scheduled to be held at Jamshedpur on March 15-25.

Three countries–Nepal, hosts India and Bangladesh–will be taking part in the regional tournament.

Nepal and India will meet on March 15 in an opening double round- robin match. Nepal will face Bangladesh in its second match on March 18.

It will again take on India on March 21 and Bangladesh on March 23. The team securing highest scores throughout the competition will clinch the title.

The Nepali squad captained by Priti Rai comprises Sabitri Kishan, Leela Joshi, Pooja Thapa, Sabina Chaudhary, Manju Kumari Khadka, Pratiksha Chaudhary, Kumari Tamang, Priya Basnet, Dibya Ismali Magar, Dipa Shahi and Hima Rawat.

Likewise, other players for the match are Saraswoti Hamal, Sunkala Rai, Anjali Machhamasi, Sarah Bajracharya, Jenifer Rana, Sharishma Thapa, Sadipa Bholan, Kushum Khatiwada, Amisha Karki, Manamaya Damai and Garima Rai.(RSS)
