Balendra Shah, newly elected mayor of Kathmandu, takes oath

Kathmandu, May 30. Newly elected Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah took the oath of office and secrecy on Monday.

At a program at the City Hall in Kathmandu, Shah took his oath administered by Chief Election Officer Raju Kumar Khatiwada. Further, deputy-mayor Sunita Dangol took oath of office before the new mayor in Newari language.

Moreover, Shah took oath in Newari language as well. Additionally, he has given his first decision as the new mayor of Kathmandu- to broadcast all meetings of the city government’s executive body live.

He said that he won’t wear garlands or give interviews until the issue of waste management in Kathmandu is solved.

Moreover, the oath of ward chairpersons and members was also administered on the occasion.
