China’s military activity around Taiwan threat for the region: US

Kathmandu, June 11. U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said US supports Taiwan regarding the Chinese interference in the region.
Austin said that there has been increase in provocative and destabilizing military activity near Taiwan. He added, “Our policy hasn’t changed, but unfortunately that doesn’t seem to be true for the PRC.”
Further, he said Washington supports the One China Policy and remain focused on maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.
According to a report in AP, Austin met with Chinese Defense Minister Gen. Wei Fenghe on Friday. He met the Chinese Minister on the sidelines of Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore.
Austin stressed that US’s network of allies in the region has only strengthened with ASEAN and Quad.
