Kathmandu, July 4. The Nepal Oil Corporation(NOC) has put forth a proposal on “gasoline quota system” for minimizing the use of petro products.

Corporation’s spokesperson Binit Mani Upadhyay stated on Monday that the corporation has been bearing huge losses in importing, transporting and distributing petroleum products.

“We must reduce the consumption to minimize the import of costly fuel. For this, the distribution of petrol from pumps/stations must be limited.” Upadhyaya noted.

He further explained that the NOC strategy shall limit two-wheelers to refill up to 5 litres at a time and four-wheelers to refill up to 20 litres at a time.

“The odd even rule of vehicular movement must also be practiced … And, the saturday’s must be declared as a vehicle free public holiday.” Upadhyaya added.

The NOC has also urged the government to install charging stations to encourage the import and use of electric vehicles across the country.
