Kathmandu, October 20. UK Prime Minister Liz Truss resigned on Thursday following controversies of her tax policies.

Truss appointed Jeremy Hunt as the chancellor, replacing Kwasi Kwarteng, in attempts to save herself from the political turmoil. Further, Truss said,”I cannot deliver the mandate on which I was elected by the Conservative Party.”

Lawmakers were asking her to resign after the revelation of her economic plan last month. Her plan of tax cuts and plans to fund them back did not go well, as the UK economy has been facing inflation.

Truss’s resignation comes a day after she said that she was “a fighter and not a quitter.” Further, she is the third prime minister from the Conservative party to resign.

While she will remain in office for a few more days; her tenure is short lived as she was prime minister for just 45 days.
