Russian President Putin not to attend G20 Summit in Bali

Kathmandu, November 11. Russian President Vladimir Putin will not be attending the G20 Summit scheduled for next week in Bali, Indonesia.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo will be hosting the event that starts next Tuesday. US President Joe Biden, Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to attend the event among other world leaders.

Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, the chief of support for G-20 events said, “Whatever happens with Russia’s decision, it is for our common good and the best for all of us.” He added that he didn’t know Putin’s reason of abstaining from the event but said he might be busy and that they needed to respect that.

Further, the Biden administration officials said they had been coordinating to isolate Putin if he decided to participate. Moreover, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed on Thursday that Lavrov will head Russia’s delegation at the G-20 summit.
