Kathmandu, February 25. The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has revised the regulations governing the operating hours of banks and other financial institutions, requiring them to provide specific services during unplanned public holidays.

“Banking and financial institutions throughout the country shall provide basic services between 10:00 am and 1:30 pm during the unplanned public holidays,” NRB said on Friday.

These include essential services such as cash transactions, cheque clearance and real-time gross settlement.

Till yesterday, institutions that wanted to provide services on a public holiday had to notify the NRB’s regulation and supervision departments beforehand.
