Foreign grants of Rs 150 million expected in Koshi Province’s annual budget of 2080/81 BS

Kathmandu, June 16. Koshi Province’s Chief Minister, Hikmat Kumar Karki, announced the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2080/81 BS on Thursday.

The budget, totaling Rs 36.24 billion, was made public through an ordinance. Out of this amount, Rs 14.39 billion has been allocated for current expenses, while Rs 18.23 billion has been designated for capital spending.

Chief Minister Karki announced that his government has set aside Rs 3.60 billion to support the smooth functioning of local governance and service delivery.

He told reporters, “To optimize resource utilization, we have identified Rs 2 billion as savings, which will be returned to the federal government.”

Regarding revenue, the Koshi government aims to collect Rs 4.57 billion. This includes an expected Rs 8.78 billion from federal grants and an additional Rs 5.84 billion from conditional grants. The budget document also accounts for Rs 150 million in foreign grants for the fiscal year.
