Local residents in Bhaktapur receive financial aid for traditional house construction

Kathmandu, June 22. The Municipal Corporation of Bhaktapur on Thursday provided a grant of over Rs 6.4 million to locals residents who are constructing houses in traditional styles.

Narayan Man Bijukchhe, Chair of Nepal Nepal Workers’ and Peasants’ Party, handed over the grants to the beneficiaries.

“Based on the materials used for construction, such as local bricks, wooden artistic windows, doors, and other necessary components, beneficiaries received amounts ranging from Rs 75,000 to Rs 846,000,” Bijukchhe told reporters

During the grant distribution event, Bijukchhe emphasized the significance of preserving the heritage sites within Bhaktapur Municipality, referring to them as living assets.

He urged the municipality to play an active role in their conservation. He further expressed the view that the responsibility of preserving, constructing, and reconstructing heritages, including the abstract ones, should be shouldered by the new generation.
