Litterateur Prof Ghanshyam Kandel Honored with Bhanu Prize

Kathmandu, July 12: The Nepali Education Council awarded this year’s Bhanu Prize, worth Rs 125,000, to litterateur Prof Ghanshyam Kandel.

According to reports, on the occasion of the 210th Bhanu Jayanti, the prize was handed over to Prof Kandel on Friday. Former Chancellor of Nepal Academy Ganga Prasad Upreti presented the cash prize to Prof Kandel during a function in the Capital City.

While speaking at the event, Upreti praised the significant contributions of Adikavi Bhanubhakta Acharya to the development of Nepali language and literature.

“The Council values the literary figures who have made outstanding contributions to the Nepali language, literature, culture, and spiritual sectors by awarding them this prize every year,” he noted.

Earlier in 2008 BS, the Nepali Education Council was established to recognize and honor individuals for their remarkable achievements in the Nepali language, literature, culture, and spiritual domains.
