Birgunj United Secures Nepal Super League Title with Victory Over Kathmandu Razors

Kathmandu, Dec 22: In a thrilling match at Dasharath Stadium, Birgunj United emerged victorious in the Nepal Super League (NSL) football tournament by defeating Kathmandu Razors with a scoreline of 4-1.

The match saw William Opoku shine with a hat-trick, and Sunil Khadka contributed a goal to secure Birgunj’s triumph. Nkenguy Jr. scored the lone goal for Kathmandu.

Kathmandu took an early lead in the 21st minute, with Junior capitalizing on Kuldeep Karki’s pass. However, Birgunj leveled the score in extra time of the first half with a penalty. The penalty was awarded to Birgunj after Andres Nia of Kathmandu handled the ball hit by Sushil Lama, and William Opoku converted it successfully.

In the second half, Birgunj continued its momentum, with Sunil Khadka scoring in the first minute, providing the team with a lead. Opoku further showcased his skill by scoring two consecutive goals in the 56th and 57th minutes, completing a hat trick.

With this victory, Birgunj United has accumulated eight points in seven games, securing the sixth position in the points table. Kathmandu Razors, despite the loss, added nine points in seven games, placing fifth in the points table. The NSL finale showcased intense competition and exceptional performances, adding to the excitement of football enthusiasts across Nepal.
