The ICC announced that it would take action against Jayawickrama for non-cooperation during the investigation of match-fixing allegations related to international matches and the Sri Lankan Premier League in 2021.

During the investigation, it was alleged that Jayawickrama deleted messages and failed to report them to the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit.

The ICC has given Praveen 14 days from August 6, 2024, to report to the anti-corruption unit and respond to the allegations.

The 25-year-old spinner, who has played 15 international matches for Sri Lanka, last appeared in a T20 match against Australia in 2022. The ICC, Sri Lanka Cricket Board, and Sri Lanka Premier League have reportedly agreed to take action in this case.
