Two-Way Traffic Resumes as Koshi Barrage Water Level Decreases
Sunsari, Sept 29: Two-way traffic across the Koshi Barrage has resumed after the water level of the Saptakoshi River showed a decline. However, the Saptakoshi Hydromeasuring Center has reported that the river remains above the danger point.
Earlier, traffic was halted due to rising water levels overflowing the bridge. The Center informed that the water flow had decreased to below 350,000 cusecs per second by Sunday evening, though all 56 gates of the barrage remain open.
This year, the Koshi Barrage recorded the highest water level in five decades, reaching 661,000 cusecs per second in the morning. The red flags and warning lights are activated when the flow exceeds 150,000 cusecs, signaling potential danger.
