Kathmandu, Jan 29: The United States is set to deport 1,365 Nepalis under its newly implemented immigration policy, according to documents from the Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) under U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

This action follows an executive order issued by President Donald Trump to expel undocumented immigrants, a policy he had emphasized during his election campaign. While some illegal immigrants have already been deported and others detained, the individuals listed in the latest documents have not yet been taken into custody.

The US Department of Immigration will now move forward with efforts to repatriate these migrants as part of a broader crackdown. In total, the list includes approximately 1.445 million immigrants from various countries facing deportation.

This policy shift is expected to have significant repercussions for affected individuals and their families, as well as Nepal, which will have to reintegrate the returning deportees into its economy and society.
