Nepal Falls to Netherlands in Women’s T20 Tri-Series Opener

Kathmandu, Jan 30: Nepal suffered a 20-run defeat against the Netherlands in the opening match of the Women’s Triangular International Twenty20 Series at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.

Chasing a target of 158 runs set by the Netherlands, Nepal managed to score 137 runs for the loss of four wickets at the end of 20 overs. Opener Sita Rana Magar was Nepal’s top scorer with 28 runs off 45 balls, including three boundaries. Bita Joshi contributed a quick 27 off 17 balls, hitting one four and two sixes. However, the rest of Nepal’s batting lineup struggled to make a significant impact, failing to reach double figures.

On the bowling front, Caroline Di Lenz and Eva Lynch took two wickets each for the Netherlands, while Iris Zwilling and Frederick Overdick chipped in with one wicket apiece.

With this win, the Netherlands secured two points in the standings, taking an early lead in the tournament.
