Arsenal Thrash Manchester City 5-1, Close Gap on Liverpool

Kathmandu, Feb 3: Manchester City suffered a humiliating 5-1 defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday night, dealing a major blow to their title hopes.

Arsenal dominated the match, with Martin Ødegaard, Thomas Partey, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Kai Havertz, and Ethan Nwaneri all getting on the scoresheet. City’s lone goal came from Erling Haaland in the 55th minute.

Ødegaard opened the scoring in the second minute, and though Haaland equalized in the 55th minute, Arsenal quickly regained control. Partey put them ahead a minute later, followed by goals from Skelly (62′), Havertz (76′), and Nwaneri (90+3′).

With the win, Arsenal climbed to second place with 50 points from 24 matches, trailing leaders Liverpool, who have 56 points with a game in hand. City now sit in fourth place with 41 points.

United and Tottenham Secure Mixed Results

Elsewhere, Manchester United suffered a 2-0 home defeat against Crystal Palace, with Jean-Philippe Mateta scoring both goals for the visitors.

Tottenham, meanwhile, ended their winless streak with a 2-0 victory over Brentford, marking their first league win in eight matches.
