Kathmandu, March 15: Brazilian football superstar Neymar Jr. has suffered another injury, ruling him out of Brazil’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Neymar, who had been sidelined since October 2023, made a comeback for Santos FC but sustained a muscle injury during Santos’ 2-0 victory against Bragantino on March 8. It is still unclear how long he will take to recover.

With 79 goals in 128 appearances, Neymar remains Brazil’s all-time top scorer. However, his absence has forced the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to call up Real Madrid’s young talent Andrique as his replacement.

Additionally, Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson and Flamengo’s Danilo have been suspended. They will be replaced by Lyon’s Lucas Perry and Flamengo’s Alex Sandro, respectively.

Fifth-placed Brazil is set to face Colombia on March 21 and arch-rival Argentina on March 26 in the South American World Cup qualifiers.
