Italy gets a new government led by Economist Mario Draghi
Kathmandu, February 14. The newly appointed Prime Minister of Italy, Mario Draghi and his government was sworn in on Saturday in a formal ceremony held at the Quirinal presidential palace.
PM Draghi is also a celebrated economist who had previously served as the Chief of European Central Bank from 2011 to 2019.
The new cabinet that comprises 23 ministers, 15 politicians and 8 technocrats, announced that their key priority will be to develop a comprehensive plan to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic and restart the Italian economy.
Italy has been badly hit by the pandemic. More than 2.7 million viral cases and 93 thousand deaths have been reported so far. The death toll is the sixth highest in the world.
